Hi John , Yes,You are right. MTD does own Cub-Cadet now.I know they owned Cub-Cadet back when I bought mine in 1994. Most people know that the basic MTD lawn mower is one of them cheep tinny pieces of junk(throw away lawn mowers). It was a good business move not to put the MTD name on there line of Cub-Cadet lawn mowers. Now that the new line of Cub-Cadet has proven itself , I think MTD feels more confident about putting there name on the product. Now , lets see if they continue with a quality product. If they do , MTD will be ok. If not , MTD's cheep reputation will continue to follow them. Personally , I think MTD should leave there name off the Cub-Cadet models.
