To days fuel on old engines

I have a AC model m that I use for discing Maybe 300 hrs a season. I do fire protection work, fire breaks and small fields. I use regular gas all the time. I tried higher octaine the other day, and was surprised by the increase in power. Its easy to feel more power when there is not an excess of power to start with. My question is: Is this doing any damage to my eigine using hi test fuel? Should I be using a fuel additive? Thanks for any help Stan
