The 501 is a great mower,however all sicle-mowers need to be set up properly.Get your-self a owners manual.It will tell you all.I use mine behind my Ford NAA .In heavy blown down grass it's a challenge.Forward,backward,forward,backward,oh,and watch when you back out of a plug that your swathboard is clear cause it breaks easily.Good Luck.P.S.Lots of times I cut in third gear.That is moving!What size drive puulley do you have,10,12,or14inch?I like the 12 inch .
