I have a 1050 with the same problem and most of the 50 series seem to have this happen sooner or later if left outside. The problem does not seem to occur as often in Masseys. The older Fords (with live pto) had a two-hole clevis that repositioned the pedal for one or two stage use. I do not remember if the small Masseys use this.
