Look at all your insulation options, and don't just price materials. When I was insulating my kennel I found an outfit that would insulate the whole thing for less than I could find just the materials. Quick, easy, and cheap for me. I put forced air heat in my kennel because I want it to stay about 45-50 F all winter, and it is only a 12x40 part of my barn. Most commercial garages use radiant heat because it heats up quick when you need it, and they turn it off when they're closed. But I think you need a lot of headroom to make it work well. A good talk over coffee with somebody who actually installs and fixes these heating systems would probably pay off.
