allto I'm not fermilier with the 4000. I think your machinic is full of s--- Gas in the crankcase could not be that much if the tractor runs at all. A broken ring or piston would put presure on the crankcase but there is not enough gas in the fuel air mixture to put that much gas in the crankcase. look for something else I think I have seen a fuelpump on ford tractors before. if it has a fuelpump I would bet dollars to donuts that is the proublem. I've had this happen to me and have seen this many times before when the diafram goes bad. if you don't have a fuelpump I still think it is something simple. and not a major overhall job.
