These are all good ideas and I hope it is that simple. In any event, take the cover off and just do a common sense look see. On my C, the oil slinging gear for the PTO had broken a tooth and it had jambed like the others have suggested other parts might. Also, my transmission oil was so thick it wouldn't drain (factory fresh I bet) and I heated kerosene OUTSIDE on a coleman stove and poured it through the transmission case, reheated it and poured it through again. It took a while but when I was done, the gears looked brand new and the case walls still had original red paint on them. That was cool enough the almost make it worth doing anyway. Good luck
