I haven't seen anyone mention that the 6.2 L diesel was specified for US Army vehicles. I doubt they would have done that without good evidence of long life under rough conditions. I know there are fans for each of the major brands, but the Chevy with a 6.2 should do just fine for you. By the way, the new Duramax from GM (built by Isuzu) is the most powerful of the three major brands and gets high marks from owners.
