The 3pt system is just as safe as you make it. You intend to use the top links that are part of it, so you are starting right. Dad bought a TO30 Ferguson with only the 3pt hitch, no belly drawbar. I now have the tractor and over the last 48 years have we've never needed the belly drawbar. We've pulled everything we wanted to with the 3pt hitch setup. Attempting to tow implements without the top links is inviting disaster though.
