Julie-Ann........true story.....back in 1973 when I started a small cattle (15 acres) operation near Lodi, I went to the local annual farm equipment auction. I was thinkin' I'd get me one of those $500 Ford 8N's just like they were sellin for back in 1959 in Colorado. Ol'auctioneer worked up a storm for a dirty ol'Case just outta the field that morning, finally got $1300. Said it was twice the tractor the N's were. But everybody had eyes fer the N's at the end of the line. (including me) Finally, at the end of long day, auctioneer got to the N's, 'bout 6 of 'em. $1500-2000, $2500 for new painted one, $500 for disassembled one on wood pallet. I was shocked. Saved a lotta money that day by being 2nd highest bidder (grin). In 1991, paid $2000 for 8N in Oregon and hauled it 350 miles to my Rocky Ridge Sheep Station at the foot of 14000ft Mt Rainier. N's are good "starter" tractors if'n yer newbie and they really don't loose value. Parts are eazy to get and reasonable priced. And then theres all those 400 3-point implements to ponder about. I'm not a fan of front end loaders on N's, truth is, their non-power steering front axle wasn't designed for the load. Bottom line, my 8N does all I need it to, I'll put up with its iddiosyncrocies, its paid for, and I'm semi-retired and broke..........Dell
