You can't retorque the intake on the later model chevy V-8s ('96 to old body style '99). The reason for this is because the style of intake gaskets (formed plastic with rubber seals) are torqued to a measly 11 ft-lbs. on installation. That's what they were designed to seal at. Retorquing would crush the plastic, squash out the seal, and you're back at square one. Probably this time with an internal leak.
