Ok your goin ta git the doughters on this, but I watched the demos at two different engine shows this past summer. I bought the cast iron rod and the Peterson no.2 High Heat flux that he was selling. He was also selling a special torch set which I didn't buy. I just repaired a manifold with this torch and old cast iron piston rings. It work the same as brazing. The manifold I just repaired had a hole about 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" long. I ground to clean metal about a 1/4" away from the hole, heated the complete manifold and heated the edge of the hole until it started to flow, heated the cast ring and diped it in the flux, then let the ring flow over the edge of the hole. I walked the cast ring around the hole, useing plenty of flux. It worked great.
