I lost interest in the old car hobby for precisely that reason, but old tractor guys don't seem near as prone to pay outrageous prices for things. I think its probably because we're basically just a bunch of old farmers (or old farmer's kids), and don't get stars in our eyes like the slicks for whom money is no object, when it comes to a set of wheels they can show off in. I'm not trying to impress anyone, and frankly, will pay what I want to pay for what I want to buy, without much regard as to what anybody else thinks.
