Dunno about the older 6.5s, but I know of two instances where the Duramax engine ate the head gaskets and consequently the engine - in one case, the engine had all of 4000 miles on it. The owner was not very happy, to put it mildly. Why, oh why did they use aluminum cylinder heads on that engine?!
