I had a Prince type PTO pump on my 135 with multipower and live PTO, where there's a two stage clutch. It was forever in the way of using PTO driven things like mowers and so to use them I had to take off the loader. One foggy winter day when the loader was off and outside some less than nice person stole that pump. I hope it leaks more for them than it did for me. Then I bought a smaller pump, made a shelf for it to sit on out front and made a tumbling rod and hex coupling to fit the crankshaft pulley (already threaded for attachment bolts). I used 3/4 hex shaft turned round except at the engine end. I used a standard flexible coupling at the pump. I made a flange for a 3/4 hex weld a hub to fit the tractor pulley. There are some 5/8" holes in the front of the front axle support that now have studs to hold the shelf. I used a 3/4 hydraulic hose coupling on the pump so that with the loader removed I could couple input and output of the pump together. 3/4 so the pressure drop in the coupling wouldn't cause the pump to cavitate. Made the loader far easier to use than that PTO pump that was too big. Also made the back hoe easier to use that was tapped into the loader circuits.

I have removed the loader and put it on a JD-4020 so quit using that front pump on the 135 but it worked well, is hardly more bother to install once the pieces are made than the PTO pump and doesn't interfere with anything. I did have to cut pieces of the lower grill tin away to make room for the pump.

Today's Featured Article - The Engine Rebuild Kit - by Curtis Von Fange. I always liked engine rebuild kits. They have all the replacement parts for overhauling an engine without going to the store to get gaskets, special measuring tools, or miscellaneous parts. They come neatly packaged, clean and tidy. But it's important not to let that packaging lull you into a false sense of security. The appearance of matching sleeves, pistons, rings, and bearings can cause frustration and agony if not properly measured and installed in a workshop environment. Following c ... [Read Article]
