bad gas HUMMMMM . Your not the first . Had a customer that had a Ford 800 something . Brought it up just as the weather was getting cold . needed a tune up and wanted it ready for bad weather . He milked like 15 cows , worked in a shop . He ground feed with this tractor and hauled manure one a day every day . And cleaned snow. Did a major tune up on it and it ran sweet , even left it out side over night to see how it would start the next morning as it got down to around 15 . Popped right off the next morning and that afternoon he came up paid the bill and drove it the two miles home . three days later he calls madder then a wet hen , tractor will not start and he need to grind feed and haul . It's around 12 outside and no warmer in his three sided barn . I loaded up my S/MTA and push pole and went down and loaded the ford up on the trailer and left him my MTA . Get back to the shop back the trailer in ans shove the ford off . Lot nicer working in the shop with the old coal furnace glowing cherry red . I tired to start it and no go . Pulled the plus and they were coal black and slimy . I figured he just over choked it , Put new plugs in it pulled it back out side and let it ferment over night , first thing in the morning it fired right up and ran , that late afternoon i ran it back down on the trailer and hauled the MTA back , two days later he calls again mad tractor won't start , grabbed four plugs , spark plug socket and ratchet . Go back down and put four new plugs in and look at the one had put in while it was at the shop and they were Black and oily Once the new plugs were in it started up , it cold and thee ford is in the three sided shed and as we were talking i started to notice a lot of extra black coming out of the exhaust . The tractor had been running for maybe fifteen mins . I shut it off and tried to restart and NO restart . I asked him if he had got new fuel just after the tune up and he said yes . Found a old bean can and went out and put some gas in it from his tank and set it in the drive and tried to light it , every match we threw into the gas went out . Dipped and old rag in the gas and got it to light on the rag then dropped into the can of gas and we now had a smudge pot pouring black smoke . what happened was the fuel guy also bought 500 gallon of home heating oil for the house and once he filled the two tanks for the house he switched tanks to the gas and what FUEL OIL that was left in the HOSE went into the gas tank first before the gas flushed the hose out . Now how many gallons of Fuel oil was still in the hose don't know but it sure did that load of gas in and caused me aggravation . Now is this your problem don't know but it gives you something to look into . Check you plugs , also make sure your coil is hot and ya have good spark . Others touched on water , that you can see in the sediment bowl . back in my trucking days we got bad fuel at good truck stops .
