I have a Ford 600 and 800 both have run well up to now ,the other day I got gas from the local station and now both of them are hard to start and will hardly stay running , does anyone think this is caused by the gasoline?

It sure could. if there was a wide spread encounter with bad gas, the station owners/supply chain may be responsible for repairs and replacement. Look for water in the sediment bowl/filter. Trash in the filters is also possible if the same trash, it is an indication of their fault. Jim

We got a brand new Casey's station here just a couple years ago. This one has the non-ethanol premium, which we could never get before.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems that some of my stuff runs worse on that, then when I was running regular ethanol in it. Nothing real obvious, but as mentioned, a little harder starting and rougher running on some stuff.
I may just go back to the ethanol. Plus, it's a lot cheaper than the other.

i had that happennthis summer. stopped and got 5 gallons gas for the golf cart.cart would barely run pumped out the fuel it had 3= quarts of water in it.

bad gas HUMMMMM . Your not the first . Had a customer that had a Ford 800 something . Brought it up just as the weather was getting cold . needed a tune up and wanted it ready for bad weather . He milked like 15 cows , worked in a shop . He ground feed with this tractor and hauled manure one a day every day . And cleaned snow. Did a major tune up on it and it ran sweet , even left it out side over night to see how it would start the next morning as it got down to around 15 . Popped right off the next morning and that afternoon he came up paid the bill and drove it the two miles home . three days later he calls madder then a wet hen , tractor will not start and he need to grind feed and haul . It's around 12 outside and no warmer in his three sided barn . I loaded up my S/MTA and push pole and went down and loaded the ford up on the trailer and left him my MTA . Get back to the shop back the trailer in ans shove the ford off . Lot nicer working in the shop with the old coal furnace glowing cherry red . I tired to start it and no go . Pulled the plus and they were coal black and slimy . I figured he just over choked it , Put new plugs in it pulled it back out side and let it ferment over night , first thing in the morning it fired right up and ran , that late afternoon i ran it back down on the trailer and hauled the MTA back , two days later he calls again mad tractor won't start , grabbed four plugs , spark plug socket and ratchet . Go back down and put four new plugs in and look at the one had put in while it was at the shop and they were Black and oily Once the new plugs were in it started up , it cold and thee ford is in the three sided shed and as we were talking i started to notice a lot of extra black coming out of the exhaust . The tractor had been running for maybe fifteen mins . I shut it off and tried to restart and NO restart . I asked him if he had got new fuel just after the tune up and he said yes . Found a old bean can and went out and put some gas in it from his tank and set it in the drive and tried to light it , every match we threw into the gas went out . Dipped and old rag in the gas and got it to light on the rag then dropped into the can of gas and we now had a smudge pot pouring black smoke . what happened was the fuel guy also bought 500 gallon of home heating oil for the house and once he filled the two tanks for the house he switched tanks to the gas and what FUEL OIL that was left in the HOSE went into the gas tank first before the gas flushed the hose out . Now how many gallons of Fuel oil was still in the hose don't know but it sure did that load of gas in and caused me aggravation . Now is this your problem don't know but it gives you something to look into . Check you plugs , also make sure your coil is hot and ya have good spark . Others touched on water , that you can see in the sediment bowl . back in my trucking days we got bad fuel at good truck stops .

Drain one and put fresh gas from another vendor and try it . Check the sediment bowl clean it , drain carburetor. Before you test this out.
Strange both tractors started running bad after the fuel was added .
Wouldnt think it was gas ,cause a rash of others in area would putting around also . Good luck

Me and my brother filled up his truck years ago at a station where the tanker was off loading fuel. It was about 28 degrees that day and the truck almost didnt make it home. We run it in the shop thinking the fuel pump was going out. I unhooked the fuel line to the carb and had brother crank it over and i pumped fuel into a milk jug. The fuel pump had a great stream of fuel. But there was separation on the fuel in the jug. It was water. I took 8 gallons of waterfuel mix out of it.

Anything is possible, including gas.
I don't use my 2 generators very much.
Annually I'll drain the tank and fill up with new gas. I use the year old gas in my lawn mowers.

Drain the tank and buy new gas at a different gas station.

Yes, You probably got bad fuel, A few winters back I purchased gas at the local station in the middle of winter, had been blowing snow and moving some with my loader tractor. Filled both with new gas and they both quit running in about a minute. Drained both tanks and went to a different station about 10 miles away. Drained carbs and refilled with new gas and finished the removal of snow. Water in gas! It does happen more than you think.

I and several neighbors had a similar problem. I had 3 tractors and 310g crawler that were hard starting and would sometimes run fine and until the exhaust turned black and the engine died. had to drain the system and add a fuel conditioner, they are running fine now. Started my dump truck a few days ago and I guess it has bad gas also GRRR

Check the sediment bowl for water. You can also remove the plug from the bottom of the carburetor bowl to drain it.

If you don't find any water, it's probably not bad gas. Note that any water you find didn't necessarily come from your gas station; it could have been in the cans you used to carry the gas home.

You'd be surprised how often we get a car in with bad gas. Usually the wrong fuel got put into a tank somewhere along the line. Seen a lot of gas/diesel mixes. Some test out like gasoline but won't burn worth a darn. Dump some on the floor and it won't evaporate. I've had some that I put in a test tube and it separated into 2 layers. One clear and the other yellow. Neither was water because when I added water and shook it up, it separated into 3 layers.
