What is your budget for the new cultivating tractor? That might determine if it is feasible or not.
If you are patient, you can probably find a Farmall C or Super C with a mounted 2 row cultivator for under $2,000. I don't know if many older front mounted cultivators can be set to much narrower than 36 inch rows. A two row or four row front mounted cultivator won't have the capacity to cover 10,000 acres in a timely manner, but it would work for 1 to 100 acres. Around 1970 the cultivator market switched to wider 3 point hitch rear mounted cultivators with S-tines and rolling shields to cover more ground at higher speeds. Shortly after that chemical herbicides replaced mechanical weed control.
