modern cultivating tractor

Do any of the major manufacturers make a small cultivating tractor anymore ? Heck, is anyone making new cultivators ? I'm looking for a modern tractor that will cultivate two or three rows of vegetables. Ideally the cultivator would be mid mounted and have enough flexibility to carry shovels or basket weeders. Think a Super C made in this century.
Thanks
Greg

As far as I know none of the major manufacturers make what you're looking for as there would be little financial incentive to do so. Majors just don't tend to play in the super-low volume, specialty niche markets like they once did. The most modern major-brand tractor that I can think of that fits your description would be the Deere 900HC from the late 1980s. It was about the size of the Farmall 140 with a similar offset configuration.

Sure there are a few manufacturers of tillage implements - SEE LINK below for KING CUTTER - Field Cultivator, 1 Row Cultivator, Middle Buster, and Sub Soiler. I found several suppliers - just plug in 'tillage'. Kubota, John Deere, County Line, Titan, Brinly-Hardy, Field Tuff, Genius Boy Ibex, Tarter, to name a few ... I always see used vintage Dearborn and FORD implement too.

Buy a 75 year old Cub. Can't beat it. Under $2000,with cultivator. And you can add stuff, veggie shield, hillers, finger weeders.......

Just curious, why are you looking for a ' modern ' tractor?

What is your budget for the new cultivating tractor? That might determine if it is feasible or not.

If you are patient, you can probably find a Farmall C or Super C with a mounted 2 row cultivator for under $2,000. I don't know if many older front mounted cultivators can be set to much narrower than 36 inch rows. A two row or four row front mounted cultivator won't have the capacity to cover 10,000 acres in a timely manner, but it would work for 1 to 100 acres. Around 1970 the cultivator market switched to wider 3 point hitch rear mounted cultivators with S-tines and rolling shields to cover more ground at higher speeds. Shortly after that chemical herbicides replaced mechanical weed control.

I don't think any are mfrd in this country. However, the major brands import tractors from overseas,
mainly Japan, Korea and India. There used to be some SLH tractors imported from Italy, but they are now built in India, too. About 1.5 liter is the smallest. A $2000 tractor from 1960, would have to be priced
at about $30,000 today, plus for improvements, such as diesel, three point, and power steering. Who
can justify that, when you still have some Ford, Ferguson, Farmall and Allis tractors left? No lawyer would allow a company to sell a narrow front at this time.

I bought this cultivator as is. Looks like half of a front mount four row. Works great and all you need to do is put a modern tractor in front of it. Had a Formal 230 and later an Allis D15 both with front mount cultivators. For sick of having to mount them so went to this.

How about a new & red John Blue. I've been paying close attention to these guys for a while & will say they are on top of their game.... though I have a few criticisms about the 520.

The fancy tools they sell for it can be retro fitted to any other cultivator tractor or toolbar.
