Not 100% sure on the 395 but if the lever nearest the fender does forward and reverse it should also do the high/low. If I remember correctly low forward should be straight ahead from reverse, high range should be closer to the seat and ahead. You should be able to get 8 forwards gears without an electric switch. The exception would be if theres a lever like the throttle lever to the left of the steering wheel - there was an optional shuttle transmission that used that lever for forward/reverse and then the lever next to the fender just goes forwards for high and back for low.
