I've worn aids for well over 40 years. Lots of hearing loss so the world is realy quiet without them and with them everything is loud. As long as I wear them all day, things are OK sounding. But, if I don't everything is annoyingly loud, some sounds are almost painful, for a while when I do put them in.
My recommendation, wear them daily.
Especially true if you get the better ones that pair with a cell phone with bluetooth. For the first time in years I can have a phone conversation. Without the aids a phone, cell or landline, is useless to me.
Even better I can adjust the aids using an app on my phone.
