Reminds me of a deal I made a couple years ago.Retired dairy farmer selling one of his tractors;a 1983 Deere 4250.He had it on Craigslist for 14k,the ad was very brief with a picture.Knowing these tractors are worth a good 5 to 8k more than what he was asking I was thinking its gotta be either way high hours and/or a pos.I was the first to call on it and after talking to owner sounded like a good buy.We made a deal,said I'd like to check it out and I'll be there with a trailer and 14k in a couple days thinking to myself this could still be a pos.Next morning I got a call from the seller telling me his phone had lit up with people offering more than his asking price.He told me he didn't realize the tractor might be worth more than his asking price as someone offered him 22k.He basically wanted more for it.I could tell he felt bad about the deal we made but he wasn't about to let it go for 14k.So I said I'll give you 18k and he agreed.As it turned out the tractor was pretty decent,it needed some work but nothing major so I bought it.This is a classic example of someone selling something and not knowing it's worth.Would I have felt guilty if I had paid his original asking price?Maybe,but who knows the ps trans coulda took a dump on me or any one of a hundred other things.In the end a deal is a deal.Buyer and seller beware!
