The one about the VETTE--The story goes a kid got drafted and was sent to Viet Nam--was killed in action. but before he left he put his 58 fuelie Corvette in storage in the barn. Shortly afterwards the Dad died and the Mom wanted to move to town so she called The old guy down the road to help her clean the stuff up. Almost every letter she got when her Son was alive would mention the Vette so She took him out to the barn to show it to the old guy down the road--She said I looked up Chevettes in the paper and they aren't worth much $1000 tops--but this one only has seating for two so would you give me $750--the old guy down the road said--No but I'll give you $500--And the old guy down the road lived happily ever after!!!!!!!!!!---Tee

Yeah...that was a country song by David Ball. The song said the car was an old chevy. Nothing about a foreign market Chevette. Nice try though.

Big Tee ain't that your trailer under that Vett? LOL!!! Just having some fun. But I could tell a true story about selling a Harley once for a dead beat BIL. And yes I sleep good at night.

Glad you said something. I've been looking for over a half hour for that thread. I guess the thread got scrapped >-o=0

There are dozens of those stories floating around about vettes, big block mopars, etc., etc. Likely a few may be true but I doubt most are.

And the old lady could not find the title... How many stolen cars were sold with that story?

i know of 2 cars that were put into storage in the late 60s' when the owners got drafted. the owners never drove their cars again. the cars were kept in storage as a shrine / memento by the parents. when the parents passed, the cars became barn finds. no emotional value to anyone. just a few quick bucks to be made while cleaning up the estate.. kinda sad in a way. seems like a real waste.

Tee,its probably a good thing that I never got around to replying on the 4020 John Deere topic yesterday because about 95% of the people on here wouldn't have liked one bit what I had to say about it...I could say lots more but will just bite my tongue for now...If the wifes health allows I'll pull Rays old Oliver 88 for the first time on May 13th at Medoc,MO...Grossman,Herx ,and the other Oklahoma Oliver guys had better watch out...(grin) I can do no worse than get last place and I will have a blast doing it...

Hope you feel better big tee.

M I bought for $200. Pic is from the day I went to pick it up. Had it running before it left the yard. The prior owner had it parked in junk row for at least 2 years before I offered to buy it. We were both happy with the deal. Shame on me.
