These types of things are usually put on by seed companies that want to sell you their products. Sure you dont pay any $$ for the meal but, you pay with your time. If they spend 4 hours giving you their information, and you get a $20.00 meal, you receive $5.00 for your undivided attention. Theres no free lunch !
