Most clubs/associations do not take to outsiders despite any advertising they may put out to the contrary. They are founded through a small group of like minded neighbors having a common purpose. Then soon somebody wants to know if a person outside the group can join. Friction soon results as the newcomer is not accepted. Before long it is decided there is not enough money coming in for club dinners and events so the club advertises for new blood to participate in meetings and events. So now more people that do not have the same outlook on things as the founding members. If the club survives all that it shrinks down to near its original membership. No newcomers to events. I'd love a plow day to go to but I don't see an invitation coming. A corn picker event would be nice as well but they are not done around here to my knowledge and I am sure insurance would need to be addressed.
