Just out of high school I farmed for a local bto. It was about a 20,000 bu. bin and it had a light bulb about half way up the roof. I think the bulb had a globe around it but not positive. Anyway we filled the bin up to the peak right around the light bulb. Someone turned the light on and forgot to turn it off after about a week I was plowing on that farm. Everytime I came to the end by the bin sight it seemed like I could smell burnt corn. Finally I stopped to investigate thinking it was something with the dryer standing nearby. I could not get it narrowed down. Finally went and got the owner. He discovered it was coming from the aeration fan of the bin. When he shut the fan off it burst into flames.
