my step father and a couple of his friends ran a modified in late 60s' / early 70s'. in the summer, it was my job to drive the car to the track on friday if the track was over 100 miles or so. that way they didn't need to miss much work. we ran a 240-300 6 cyl ford against all the v 8s'. the reason was we didn't have the restrictions of the carburetion if i remember right. i started to dislike the whole race car thing that last summer. it really cut into my social life being at the race track every weekend. i was 18. all my friends were getting the girls haha.
