The resistor is built into the coil. I tested the coil. I've just never had a problem like this before. When I checked the positive and negative it gives me a reading of 000. When I put one wire in the middle of the coil the other wire on the positive side it shows me a reading of 9.87 the same goes for the other side. Is this coil bad? This tractor set up for 6 years. Never had an issue like this before. I have replaced the on and off switch on the dash. I replaced the spark plugs. Make sure the connections coming out of the side of the distributor are not grounded out. I have not of yet replaced the distributor cap or the wires or the rotor. I don't want to just start replacing all the parts I want to try to find the main problem.
