Unless a catastrophe has hit the engine such as spun main bearing or hole in block I would investigate repairing the existing engine. The one exception might be replacing a gas engine with a diesel. I've seen a 329 in a 4010 before but would imagine that it takes a lot of time and work to make it fit plus in the end it will not have the power of a 404 or 466. Plenty of combine engines out there and you might find a naturally aspirated 404 or 466 which would require a minimum of adapting. An engine out of a 4230 or similar tractor is good as well.
