We had a JD Strongbox last over 12 years in our JD4600, but that's the best we've done. Last spring I replaced the original one in a 2013 Chev Silverado, 9 years and still going, but I didn't want it to fail 100 miles up in Canada on a fishing trip. 6 years is about average, depending on how you treat them, heat is what shortens their life. The one in our JD4600 is parked in an unheated garage on the CA border for 5 months in the winter, no maintainer on it, I don't believe in them.
