I logged for several years with an Oliver 88 narrow front on some pretty steep hills here in S.E. Ohio. I did it because it was how I was raised. BUT I don't think I would recommend one for a novice on a tractor like that especially working in the woods. The only ones you will find now are at or near 50 years old which is no problem if they have had proper maintenance. As far as bogging down, I believe I'd be more worried about the rear wheels bogging down in sandy soil, now in mud, it's a different story unless you have mud scrapers on the front wheels. I still own both narrow and wide front tractors, but I would, if I were you, (and you can do what you wish)look for a wide front. I believe you will be happier and at least feel safer on one. Just keep in mind that either can roll over backward or sideways if the operator isn't careful. Just my thoughts, Keith
