I don't know if it's a normal difference between GM and Mobil1, but we use Schaeffer synthetic and there is a noticeable decrease in temperature with the Schaeffer. I think I've said this before. We send Schaeffer a lot of money, but their oil doesn't cost us a dime due to the absence of oil related failures. A friend of ours ran their oil in their crushing equipment. Their oil related failures disappeared. We copied what they were doing and got the same result. With higher engine temps these days, anything you can do to reduce temp or withstand temp will add longevity to your machine.
