It's not just someone to socialize with. It's the people that just might have a part you need laying in their toolbox. It's the people you share advice with and don't mind you wandering around the shop talking to the mechanics or letting you borrow a manual or tool you don't have. I was in a bordering state shopping with the wife a couple years ago when an old guy came up to me talking about tractors. He remembered me from working on his tractor at the Deere dealership about 12 years before. It was a good distraction while the wife went about her shopping. Lol
