That is about the time they went to the diesels. As the R 's were gas and the RD was a diesel. Our D-4 is about the next model newer than the RD's. I think there was supposed to be a 4or6 with the RD to specify whether it is a 4 cylinder with about 35-40 HP or a 6cylinder with about 50-70 HP In some of the early models the D-4 was the same piston as the D-6 only the 6 had 2 more cylinders using the same piston The same for the bigger models also. The D-7 was the same as the D-8 only again a 4and a 6 cylinder engines just bigger bores than the 4and 6
