Fowler VF and VFA were the tracked versions of the Field Marshall. They had a six speed gearbox, 6 litre bore, two stroke diesel.

This is the earlier wheeled version of the Field Marshall.

And to pull those 2 plows together with wheels would be using the red model in the background in the last picture at about 10-15 gallon per hour versus the Cat on about 20 gallon all day from sunrise to sunset. That is about the time they went to the diesels. As the R 's were gas and the RD was a diesel. Our D-4 is about the next model newer than the RD's. I think there was supposed to be a 4or6 with the RD to specify whether it is a 4 cylinder with about 35-40 HP or a 6cylinder with about 50-70 HP In some of the early models the D-4 was the same piston as the D-6 only the 6 had 2 more cylinders using the same piston The same for the bigger models also. The D-7 was the same as the D-8 only again a 4and a 6 cylinder engines just bigger bores than the 4and 6

My ancestors on my mothers side used to farm Wrekin Farm on the Wrekin. They
left farming and went down mines in Derbyshire. Some then went goldmining in
Australia and others moved to the USA and Canada.
