From looking at the picture:
I see the edge of the centrifugal weight. If I'm seeing it correctly, the weight should be held in the retracted position by the springs.
If the springs are broken, the cam (the part that the points ride on) will have radial slack, but not have side to side movement.
Also looks like the points are closed, out of adjustment.
Also the cam and rub block are dry. They need a small amount of high temp grease, just enough to lube them but not sling off.
I would take the distributor out, take it completely apart. Check everything for wear and function. If salvageable clean it up, replace the worn or missing parts, lube the bearings/bushings, put it all back together and live happily ever after!
