Delivery on the weekend is becoming common because we are so backed up with home deliveries.
We are on mandatory rotation for weekend work. They bring in enough people to fill every home delivery truck we have so we can try to make service dates.
Im betting the first delivery date you got was from the shipper. They were giving the carrier ample time to make the delivery. Maybe a few extra days to keep you from complaining if they were a day or two late.
Once fedex got the shipment they changed the delivery date to what they could handle.
