I really recommend looking up agphd on u tube. I started listening to their shows and attended a seminar they put on. I took their advice and did one acre soil samples this year for lime and fertilizer. It was shocking to see the difference in results. Some acres were 5ph and others 7+ph. It was interesting to see the changes in organic matter and cation exchange capacity through my fields. What I spent on soil samples I nearly already saved in not applying lime where it wasn't needed and not over applying fertilizer where the soil could not hold it. I only put up hay but so far my fields have never looked better and it's piece of mind knowing I'm not putting out more or less than the soil can handle.
