I cut hay for years with a 800 JD. 12 ft. self propelled with conditioner. Always thought that worked pretty good. Then about 3 yrs. ago I needed to cut hay and the 800 was down. I hooked up my 5 and half ft. vicon disc mower. I believe the hay actually dries down faster and more uniform. I can travel so much faster with the disc mower that I can get as much or more done. I vowed never to cut hay with swather again. For this year I bought a new 7 and half foot Kubota disc mower. I should have the best of all worlds now.
