When the factory in Coldwater, OH was closed the production of New Idea equipment moved to Hesston, KS and the New Idea brand name wasn't retired until sometime around 2007. A lot of the Hesston-designed hay tools were branded as New Idea (such as the 5512 that is being discussed here) as well as Hesston/AGCO. Even the self-propelled windrowers were branded as New Idea for a number of years although relatively few were actually produced. And, one of the New Idea machines is in a way still around - the current-production Massey Ferguson 1359 mower/conditioner is largely the same machine as the old 5209 that has been around for decades.
