There is no oil in the cam box on a 1958 Dexta, that pump is lubricated by diesel as are all the other versions of those tractors. On the later, after 1961, Dexta and Super Dexta they had mechanical governors and the oil was to lubricate the governor unit not the pump. a pint of Automatic Transmission Fluid in the diesel will also work wonders.
It is a good idea to take the side plate off and make sure the plungers are working but be a bit careful how you free a stuck plunger, any scratching on the plunger itself could mean it will need replacing, a job best done by a diesel shop.
