Before you do anything else, you need to test things. Do Janicholson's test for fuel flow to the carburetor. Get a test light and check for voltage to the coil. Or even easier: to check for spark, turn the key on, pull the coil wire, and open and close points with screwdriver, while holding the coil wire away from the block or anything metal on the engine (a good ground), and watching for spark from the coil wire.
