Screw it in the pump without the banjo and see if it is bottoming before you are getting a good crush on the washers. If it does not tighten enough grind a bit off the shoulder on the tip matching the original angle. A flapper wheel on a 4 in. grinder or a bench type belt sander is the best way. DT is going to cringe when he sees this.
