Does anyone make a prehung exterior door with wider than standard frame?. When I built my house in 93 I ordered my doors custom built. My walls are 2 x 6 studs with 1/2 drywall inside and 1 inch foam outside. That's 5 1/2 plus 1/2 plus 1. That's 7 inches. Those doors were the better series Pease brand which were supposed to be good. One failed about 10 years ago and I was able to order a Peachtree brand door with the same dimensions-it wasn't cheap. I guess Pease is gone and maybe Peachtree too. I need to replace another one or two. One is my garage door which sets down into the poured wall a little so that one is even wider-8 inches plus inside and outside sheating. Its not as simple as adding extensions to the inside frame edges. I have some of that in my garage. While it works, sort of, it creates a situation where the bolt on the backset rubs across the extension every time its swung. Are there custom doors available?
