Also the dirt, that's probably the biggest enemy. It packs in and blocks the air flow. That will happen with any alternator.
One thing that came to mind, what kind of electrical load do you have? If there is an air conditioner with multiple blower motors, it may have a substantial, continuous load. If that is the case, try to calculate the amp load and find an alternator with at least 20-50% greater amp capacity.
They get expensive, but maybe a physically larger, like would be on an ambulance, would be more resistant to dirt clogging. If there is an alternator/starter shop near by, they may have something used or rebuilt.
