You don't have a choice. What they say goes even if it is 100% wrong. Sure you can take it to court but you're rolling the dice there. Time you're done with all the lawyers and lost work time just to prove your point and changing NOTHING about the broken system, you would have been better off paying Barney the $50 and being done with it. That's what most do, pay the $50 and be done with it, and spend the rest of their career jumping through hoops so Barney can't nail them for the same thing again.
