I've been fighting the carb on my new to me Oliver 1550 all spring and summer, it wouldn't idle below 1000 rpm. I've had the carb apart more times than I can count on both hands, boiled it in vinegar and soaked it in Napa carb cleaner a couple of times. Today, I took it apart before noon and put the top part in the carb cleaner and left it in until 4. I cleaned it up and squirted carb cleaner thru it after running a wire thru the passages, put it together and started it up. It runs perfect and I got the idle speed down to 450 to 550 rpm. I took it for a short drive, 6th gear, pull the throttle back to idle and it chugs along at 500 rpm, push the throttle ahead and it smoothly increases speed. I better buy a lottery ticket!!!
