I am considering replacing the hdy piston pump on my 1956 ford 650; but wonder if there is more to it than taking the old one off and putting the new one on. For example, will the pump need to be primed - and if so, how?

BTW: I paid a tractor repair shop to rebuild the existing pump. However, it is now actually squirting fluid from one of the joints separating the sections of the pump. The shop has put me off for 6 weeks already.
