Nuffield Universal 4DM from around the late 1950's. Rated at 45hp, 5 gears forward. 1 reverse. I served my apprenticeship working on these tractors before moving to a Ford dealer. These were the tractors that Ford were most concerned with as they would out perform the Fordson Major and Super Major.
They were designed in the 1940's and built by Morris Motors who were then later linked to Austin and became British Motor Corporation or BMC.
The name Nuffield comes from William Morris, the company's founder, who took the title Lord Nuffield when elevated to the peerage. His companies built aircraft, aircraft engines and many other components for the RAF, Army and Navy during WW2, in their factories around Oxford and Birmingham.
