Nuffield Universal 4DM from around the late 1950's. Rated at 45hp, 5 gears forward.
1 reverse. I served my apprenticeship working on these tractors before moving to a
Ford dealer. These were the tractors that Ford were most concerned with as they
would out perform the Fordson Major and Super Major.

They were designed in the 1940's and built by Morris Motors who were then later linked to
Austin and became British Motor Corporation or BMC.

The name Nuffield comes from William Morris, the company's founder, who took the
title Lord Nuffield when elevated to the peerage. His companies built aircraft,
aircraft engines and many other components for the RAF, Army and Navy during WW2, in
their factories around Oxford and Birmingham.

The verbiage is all nice to read but you are going to tell me that what I see in that picture with that apparent light weight, probably
narrow (13.6 of less for 45 hp) tires, 2wd no less, will actually pull a 6 bottom plow? Absolutely amazing..........

It would play with six bottoms in sand.

From the looks of those plow bottoms, I highly doubt that they are plowing 10 to 12s deep. More like 6 or 7.

No, whoever set up the picture was being extremely optimistic. :0) I pull three with a Nuffield 4/65 which is around 20hp more and that can be a load, so can a single furrow if in about 12 inches with a 14 inch furrow.

As far as tyre size goes, they came home on 11x36 rear tyres and they worked fine when water loaded on our heavier land. We are not talking 100hp plus so there is little problem getting power onto the land. The hydraulic design also helped in weight transfer to the rear wheels.

This is like some years ago when there was a commercial on TV that showed an M Farmall heading out to a field pulling a 28' wing disc with the wings folded.

Those look like Scotch bottoms on that plow to me.
If they are, they're only about 10 inches wide, and plow shallow.
Still a challenge to pull 6 though. I have a two bottom version.
